A biblioteca escolar : dinamizar, motivar para a leitura

Abstract

Ninguém nasce leitor, no entanto desde cedo podemos contribuir para que uma criança se forme como leitor. O contacto entre a criança e o livro deve ser proporcionado desde cedo, para que esta apreenda um conjunto de características relacionadas com o acto de ler. À medida que a criança aumenta as suas leituras, mais desenvolve as suas capacidades intertextuais e mais se forma como leitor. Formar leitores é uma responsabilidade partilhada entre a família, a escola e a Biblioteca Escolar. A família é a responsável por promover o contacto entre a criança e o livro, por lhes permitir o acesso a este e por criar situações frequentes de partilha de leituras. Por sua vez, a escola deve não só ensinar a criança a ler, mas essencialmente, criar-lhe o gosto de ler. É necessário que as escolas proporcionem situações motivadoras que ponham a criança e o livro em permanente contacto. Embora a Biblioteca Escolar seja um organismo dentro da própria escola, destaca-se no papel de formar leitores e tem nesta área uma responsabilidade acrescida. A Biblioteca Escolar deve ser dinamizada de modo a proporcionar aos alunos situações interessantes e motivadoras que os levem a ler, pois é nela que encontramos fontes de conhecimento. Neste trabalho apresentamos os resultados de um projecto de investigaçãoacção que pretende promover a leitura junto dos mais novos, com o envolvimento dos encarregados de educação e da própria Biblioteca Escolar.

No one is born a reader. We can, however, contribute from an early stage to the process of training children to become readers. The contact between children and books should be promoted early on so that they apprehend a set of characteristics related to the act of reading. As children read on, they develop their intertextual skills and they are trained in becoming readers. Training readers is a responsibility shared between the family, school and the School Library. The family is responsible to promote the contact between children and books, for giving them access to books and to create frequent situations in which reading is a shared experience. On the other hand the school is responsible not only for teaching children how to read but also, and essentially, for promoting the joy of reading. It is necessary that schools provide situations that motivate children and that promote the permanent contact between children and books. Although the School Library is an organism inside the school itself, it stands out in the role of training readers. It has a vast responsibility on this matter. The School Library must be dynamized in order to provide students with interesting and motivational situations which encourage reading for it is there we can find knowledge sources. In this work we present the results of an action-research project that intends to promote reading among children with the envolvment of parents and the School Library.
