O efeito dos resultados escolares na avaliação do desempenho docente

Abstract

A sociedade atual, globalizada, solicita uma permanente prestação de contas em todas as áreas e a educação, sendo um dos seus pilares fundamentais, está, obviamente, sujeita também a essa nova forma de estar. O desempenho dos professores, enquanto sujeitos ativos de relevo no processo educativo, é também escrutinado cada vez com maior acuidade, e os resultados que os seus alunos obtêm começam também a ser mencionados, questionando-se se devem ou não interferir de algum modo na sua avaliação. Neste sentido, e procurando tentar responder a esta questão central, realizamos este estudo que tem como principal enfoque criar um mecanismo que reflita o produto final de todo o processo, isto é, os resultados dos alunos, que permita acrescentar uma variável objetiva à gestão de desempenho docente e que seja de fácil manuseamento. O objeto de estudo desta investigação é a análise do desempenho docente, também à luz dos resultados dos alunos, com base na evolução dos mesmos ao longo de vários anos e comparando as classificações internas com os resultados obtidos na avaliação externa. Toda a análise estatística é avaliada na perspetiva do desempenho docente e de que forma a evolução dos resultados dos alunos reflete o desempenho dos professores. Com este instrumento de trabalho, pensamos que a ADD desenvolver-seá de uma forma mais completa e equilibrada, abrangendo um maior leque de dimensões.

The current globalised society demands a permanent examination in every area and being education one of its most primary foundations, it is obviously subjected to this new way of thinking. The performance of the teachers as active agents of great importance in the educational process is also scrutinized as well as the scores of their students, posing, therefore, the question of if the latter should or should not be considered in the teachers’ assessment. Thus, in order to answer this central question, this research was carried out in order to create a mechanism that includes, in teacher evaluation, the final product, meaning, the results of the students, adding an objective variable to the teacher performance appraisal and that could be easily handled. The central issue in this research is teacher performance, enlightened by student scores, evaluating their progress over the years, and comparing the internal marks with the ones obtained in the external assessment. All this statistical analysis is evaluated from the teachers’ assessment perspective and relies on the premise that the students’ scores reflect the teachers’ performances. With this tool, it is believed that teacher performance appraisal will unravel in a more thorough and balanced way, involving a wider range of dimensions
