This work arose from the need to think about and understand the attitudes of the infants at school age (belonging to the age group of six/seven years and inserted in a favoured economic environment) facing the difference and also from the desire to promote changes with the ability of enhancing the improvement of the Other. The current classrooms are the mirror of the cultural diversity of our society and the infants are also the reflex of the stereotypes and prejudices of the majority of the individuals with whom they interact in their cultural, social, and family contexts. There are still many biased attitudes regarding certain infants considered different because they do not correspond to the supposedly hegemonic standard, especially if that difference is physically visible. With this project, we tried to answer some questions, namely if it’s possible to notice any behaviour changes related with the acceptance of the differences, in six year old children, and if different textual readings will be capable of promoting a better active acceptance of the Other by infants on the first year of schooling. We believe that Reading is capable of promoting the active acceptance of the Other (in its subjectivity and difference). With this work we intend to enhance the dialogue between Literature for the Infancy and other readings such as music, theatre, dance or cinema. We are interested, therefore, to articulate the literary text that is produced for the infancy with others texts, in the attempt of finding new paths and visions that suggest a bigger opening towards the Other as a dialogue of enrichment and comprehension of the human multiplicity: what we intend to call the open windows for the Other. The project that is presented puts in articulation three different conceptual fields (Reading, Cross-cultural Education and Intervention), vii articulated with the purpose of promoting in the small students, since an early age, the grasping and comprehension of fundamental human values for the human development and that can be thoroughly experienced through the various languages and specially the literary text.
