A social place, and therefore an institution to which constant reaffirmation is required, it is for schools, in general, to be essentially proactive agents in interpreting the contours of the processes of change affecting the world. Teachers, in particular, understand responsibility for responding creatively to the challenges they face each day, for the privileged position they occupy in this institution and, as a consequence, for their role in the harmonious and integral development of each human being. In this sense, and in our view, the recent legislation- Project for Autonomy and Curricular Flexibility (PACF), Profile of the Student on Exit of Compulsory Schooling (PA), National Strategy for Citizenship and Development – has promoted the materialization of educational proposals more adjusted to the way students learn in the contemporary world. In this proposal, we intend t present the result of an exploratory study, of a qualitative nature, in a classroom context in the 1st Cycle of Basic Education, in a private teaching institution that implemented is project of autonomy and curricular flexibility, supported by the 514 Práticas Educativas e Supervisão Pedagógica application of a questionnaire survey of 8 teachers, with the objectives of knowing the whole process of implementation and development of the PAFC. The analysis of the research results will highlight the advantages and obstacles of the operationalization of this project, as well as the main strategies for monitoring and evaluating this initiative. Keywords: autonomy, authorship, learning, curricular flexibility.
